Safety Disclaimer

This page is maintained by Stop. Think. Paws! to explain the limits of the safety guidance we provide. It is app-owned editable content, not veterinary, medical, or legal advice.

Estimates, not measurements

Surface temperature and safety tags shown in the app are physics-based estimates derived from public weather data. They are not direct measurements of the exact ground where you will walk. Local conditions — shade, wind, recent rain, pavement color, and material — can change the real temperature quickly.

Always use the hand test

Before every walk, place the back of your hand on the pavement for about seven seconds. If it is uncomfortable for you, it is too hot for your pup. This simple test is the most reliable check you can do.

Not veterinary advice

Stop. Think. Paws! is not a substitute for professional veterinary care. Every dog is different — breed, age, weight, coat, health, paw conditioning, and acclimation all matter. If you suspect heatstroke, frostbite, burned paws, or any other medical issue, contact a veterinarian immediately.

Shared responsibility

We build the app and the math behind it, but you are responsible for your choices and your pet's safety. Use the app as one of many tools in your decision-making process, not as the final authority.

Limitation of liability

Stop. Think. Paws! and its operators are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage that may result from using the app or following its guidance. You assume full responsibility for your walks and outdoor activities.
